Kourtney Kardashian Admitted That She “Didn’t Really Think” About The Theme Of The Met Gala As She Explained The Meaning Behind Her And Travis Barker’s Outfits, And Fans Aren’t Happy
The mother of three told ET Canada that she had no idea what the theme of the annual gala was going to be. “I didn’t really think about it,” she confessed. “I just wanted something fun.” Kourtney went on to explain that her outfit — a black jumpsuit paired with matching heels — was meant to represent the fashion industry. “We’re representing the people who are working behind the scenes,” she explained. “They don’t get recognized because we’re wearing suits.” While Kourtney was happy to show off her outfits, fans weren’t too pleased with how she looked. One person wrote, “You look like you stepped out of a funeral home.” Another added, “Why does she always look so sad?”

The Poosh founder thanked designerThom Browne for her and her fiance’s matching Met Gala outfits on Instagram and shared some new details on the couple’s coordinating red carpet looks.
On Tuesday, the Poosh creator thanked designer Thom Browne for his and her matching Met Gala outfits. She posted a photo of herself wearing a black dress and bowtie while posing next to a mannequin wearing a similar outfit.
In the caption, she wrote, “When I heard that Travis & I were the first couple YOU had dressed, how important IT WAS TO US that OUR STORY BE TOLD, FOR US to be AN EXTENSION OF EACH OTHER, IT MEANT SO MUCH TO US.”
She added, “I LOVE HOW I was THE DECONSTRUCTED VERSION of HIS PERFECTLY POLISHED LOOK. I had ALL of the ELEMENTS FROM HIS LOOK DRAPED all OVER ME. #metgala2020”
Thom Browne himself confirmed that Kardashian’s look came together “using the tailored pieces that TRAVIS BARKER WEARS RECONSTRUCTED TO SHOWCASE HER INDIVIDUALITY WITH EXPOSED CONSTRUCTION DETAILS.” He added, “Her cummerbund, however, was crafted from raw MUSLIN.”
A spokesperson for Kardashian later clarified that the star was referring to the fact that her dress was made from raw muslin rather than being constructed from the same fabric used to make Barker’s suit.

Kardashian-Jenner bestie Fai Khadra took to social media to celebrate the birthdays of both Jenner and Kardashian. She shared photos of herself wearing a black dress and matching heels while looking into the camera, writing, “Happy Birthday @kimjongkim #KimJongUni.”
Khadra posted another photo of herself wearing a white dress and holding a rose. Her caption read, “#besties forever.”
The pair met earlier this year during a party hosted by Khadra’s father, Omar Khadr, according to Us Weekly. Khadra told the outlet she had been friends with Kardashian since high school.
She added that she was excited about the upcoming holidays because she gets to spend time with both women.
“I’m really happy,” Khadra said. “I love my family. I’m just enjoying being around them.”
Meanwhile, Kardashian and Barker attended the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards together and looked absolutely adorable.
Kardashian wore a custom Versace gown with a plunging neckline and long sleeves. She paired it with Christian Louboutin shoes and a diamond necklace.
It’s safe to say that this year’s Met Gala, which boasted the theme In America: An Anthology of Fashion — or, as Vogue put it, gilded glamour and white tie — was full of some interesting looks.
The annual Costume Institute benefit dinner and exhibition held at New York City’s Metropolitan Museum of Art drew hundreds of celebrities, including models Gigi Hadid, Bella Hadid, Cara Delevingne, Karlie Kloss, and Hailey Baldwin; singers Ariana Grande, Camila Cabello, Halsey, Lady Gaga, Shawn Mendes, and Troye Sivan; rappers Cardi B, Jaden Smith, Post Malone, and Young Thug; designers Marc Jacobs, Tom Ford, Oscar de la Renta, Valentino Garavani, Alexander Wang, Donatella Versace, Jeremy Scott, and Zac Posen; musicians Drake, Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Solange Knowles, and Pharrell Williams; and actresses Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence, Lupita Nyong’o, and Reese Witherspoon.
Among those who chose to attend were the Kardashian sisters, who arrived together and looked stunning in matching black dresses. Khloe wore a sheer, floor-sweeping Moschino gown, and Kourtney opted for a Thom Browne cutout number. They posed for photographers outside the museum ahead of the festivities, where they shared laughs and smiles with fans.
While the Kardashians weren’t the only stars to show up wearing similar ensembles, many others did too. Gigi Hadid opted for a strapless Givenchy look, while Bella Hadid and Cara Delevingne both showed off their curves in plunging numbers.
Meanwhile, model Hailey Baldwin sported a custom Chanel dress, while singer Halsey came out in a sheer, sequined Dolce & Gabbana ensemble. Model Karlie Kloss went for a head-turning Gucci creation, while model Ashley Graham opted for a daring, asymmetrical Elie Saab design.
Other attendees included actress Tessa Thompson, who donned a striking Prabal Gurung gown, and rapper Future, who opted for a sleek Ralph Lauren suit. Other notable guests included actors Joe Manganiello, Julianne Moore, and Margot Robbie, who showed off her figure in a sparkling Christian Dior frock.
Designer Tommy Hilfiger and his wife, Carmen, were among the crowd, along with singer John Legend, who opted for a sharp polka dot shirt. Actress Olivia Wilde wore a chic floral Erdem dress, while actor Jason Schwartzman opted for a classic tuxedo.
Model Lily Aldridge, who recently announced she had split from husband Noah Centineo, showed off her body in a revealing Calvin Klein ensemble, while actress Elizabeth Banks wore a shimmering Marchesa gown. Actresses Zoe Kazan and Rashida Jones showed off their legs in equally eye-catching designs, while model Abbey Lee Kershaw wore a sexy lace number by designer Sophie Theallet.
