About Anuradha Paudwal
Playback singer Anuradha Paudwal is popular in India. In the past couple of decades, she has been one of the leading playback singers since Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle. Her success in the Hindi Playback industry challenged Mangeshkar’s monopoly.
In Mumbai (Bombay), she attended Xavier’s College. In addition to being her husband, Arun Paudwal worked for S. Burman as an assistant. During the 1973 film Abhimaan (starring Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan), she sang a melodious sloka. ‘Yashoda’ (music by Datta Davjekar) marked her debut in Marathi cinema. In 1974, she released “Bhav geeten” (non-film Marathi songs).
She debuted as a playback singer in Hindi films with Kalicharan (starring Shatrugan Sinha and Reena Roy). Aap Beeti marked her debut as a soloist with Hema Malini and Shashi Kapoor. The music-composer duo for this movie was Laxmikant-Pyarelal. Additionally, she has sung occasionally for composers Rajesh Roshan (Des Pardes), Jaidev (Dooriyan, Laila Majnu), Kalyanji-Anandji (Kalaakar, Vidhataa), and Usha Khanna (Souten, Sajan Bina Suhagan).
She sang in several Marathi movies, including “Disate Majalaa” (Ashtavinayak), “Raja Lalakaari”, and “Kaalyaa Maatita Maatitaa”. For most of these films, Anil Mohile collaborated with her husband Arun as the duo Anil-Arun.
