About Neffex
The genre-hopping electronic project Neffex amassed legions of fans by releasing a new song every week for 100 weeks in the late 2010s. The material issued as part of this challenge mixed EDM, rap, bass music, and other genres, resulting in viral hits like “Rumors” and “Fight Back.” After 2020’s more focused full-length album, New Beginnings, Neffex revived its prolific song-a-week approach in 2021 and maintained a consistently high output into the next year.
Bryce Savage and Cameron Wales formed Neffex as a duo in 2009. As high school friends, the two reunited after college to form Neffex in 2014. Developing their sound in an apartment in Orange County, California, they fused elements of rap and electronic music. A new single was released each week for 100 weeks during their 100 songs challenge in 2017. There were several tracks that quickly became viral hits, such as “Fight Back,” “Rumors,” and “Best of Me.” As a result of their policy of allowing their music to be used for free by content creators, Neffex songs were soundtracking many videos from high-profile social media personalities. As well as gathering millions of streams on their songs, Neffex accumulated millions of followers on social media.
They released their six-song EP Q203 in October 2019, named after the apartment where they recorded their music. In September 2020, the band released its first full-length album, New Beginnings. Jez Dior, ROZES, and MASN made cameo appearances on the 16-song album. Wales released two solo EPs as Cam Wales in July 2021, while Savage continued to use Neffex as a vehicle for his solo work. A second 100-song campaign was launched shortly afterward and continued into 2022.
