About Mohit Chauhan
Mohit Chauhan began his career singing Indian pop songs with the band Silk Route. Silk Route released two albums by him, Boondein and Pehchan. A year after the band disbanded, Chauhan composed and sang for the solo album Kalam. During the episode of Mission Ustaad on the entertainment channel 9X, Chauhan took part in a reality show.
“Dooba Dooba” from Silk Route’s album Boondein was Chauhan’s first success before acting. The album debuted at the top of the album chart. The band won several awards at the Channel V awards in 1998 for its songs in Hindi, English, and Pahadi.
He began singing film songs and contributed a song by A. Rahman for the 2006 film Rang De Basanti. Pritam composed “Khoon Chala”, “Tum Se Hi” from Jab We Met; and Rahman composed “Masakali” from Delhi-6. His songs include “Tu Ne Jo Na Kaha” for New York, “Ye dooriyan” for Love Aaj Kal, and “Pehli Baar Mohabbat Ki Hai” for Kaminey.
Life and career in the early years
Chauhan grew up in Nahan in the Sirmaur district of Himachal Pradesh, where he was born in the mid-1960s. A number of districts in Himachal Pradesh were where he completed his education. A graduate of Dharamshala College in Himachal Pradesh, Chauhan attended college in Bilaspur, Mandi, and Nahan.
While he has never taken formal music training, he sings, plays guitar, and plays the flute. His education was completed in Himachal before Chauhan moved to Delhi in 1996 to form Silk Route. ‘Dooba Dooba’ was included on their first album, Boondein. He began his Bollywood career by singing the A. Raman song “Khoon Chala” in Rang De Basanti.
