I don’t always wake up in the mornin’
Pour myself a strong one
Aw, but when I get lonely I do
Your memory gets to burnin’
Lean back on the bourbon
Sure as hell can’t keep leanin’ on you
Looks like I’m learnin’ the hard way again
It’s all my fault, yeah, I dropped the ball
You’re gone, and I’m gone three sheets to the wind
Thinkin’ ’bout all
I’ve wasted on you
All of this time and all of this money
All of these sorrys I don’t owe you, honey
All of these miles on this Chevy and prayers in a pew
All them days I spent wasted on you
Wasted on you
Yeah, I swore this one’d be different
My heart wouldn’t listen
To my head and these boots on my feet
Looks like I’m learnin’ the hard way again
That’s why I’ve been
Wasted on you
All of this time and all of this money
All of these sorrys I don’t owe you, honey
All of these miles on this Chevy and prayers in a pew
All them days I spent wasted on you
Wasted on you
Like this pile of your stuff that’s packed up in the back
Right down to the flame of this match
Wasted on you
Wasted on you
Wasted on you
Wasted on you
Wasted on you
All of this time and all of this money
All of these sorrys I don’t owe you, honey
All of these miles on this Chevy and prayers in a pew
All them days I spent wasted on you
Wasted on you
Wasted on you
Wasted on you
About Morgan Wallen
Originally from Sneedville, Tennessee, Wallen grew up in the Knoxville area. As a preacher, his father loved hard rock, while as a teacher, his mother preferred contemporary Christian music. His interest in music began at a very early age; he started singing in church at the age of three and took up the violin at the age of five. At Gibbs High School in Corryton, Tennessee, he pitched for the baseball team, later learning to play piano and guitar. An elbow injury ended his days as a pitcher late in his senior year, and he began considering music as a career.
Career
Wallen competed on The Voice in February 2014, blind auditioning for the judges with the song “Collide” by Howie Day. Morgan joined Usher’s team after Wallen’s performance. Adam Levine’s team stole Wallen after the second Battle Round, but Morgan was eliminated in the playoffs. Aside from giving Wallen nationwide exposure, The Voice also helped him find a collaborator; Sergio Sanchez of Atom Smash was a vocal coach on the show, and the two began writing songs together that suited Wallen’s country voice. Morgan Wallen & Them Shadows was his short-lived band in Nashville with Sánchez.
As Wallen settled in Music City, he found a manager, an agent, and a publishing deal with Big Loud Shirt Music, which placed his songs with a number of up-and-coming artists. In order to get back in shape for performing, Wallen went on a tour of radio stations with Big Loud Music, Big Loud’s record label. With his song “The Way I Talk,” he made an impression on the radio in 2016, and he released a five-song EP featuring the track in 2017. In 2017, he collaborated with Florida Georgia Line on the single “Up Down,” which reached the Top Ten of the Country Singles charts and was certified gold. In April 2018, Wallen released his first full-length album, If I Know Me, which featured the song as the leadoff song.
