About Bombay Jayashree
A leading Carnatic music vocalist, Bombay S Jayashree is from Mumbai, India. Playback singer for South Indian films, she has also recorded songs. In addition to cassettes and CDs, she has released many albums.
In her early years, Jayashree, or Jayashri, was trained in Carnatic music by N N Subramaniam and Seetha. Having been influenced by her father since the age of four, she was formally initiated into music by him. In the following years, Jayashri studied under the tutelage of T R Balamani Ammal of Bombay. While she was in her teens, she enjoyed performing in concerts.
The legend Lalgudi G Jayaraman enrolled her as a disciple in 1989. He has guided and tutelaged her since 1989. As well as veena, she studies with G N Dhandapani Iyer. In addition to T.M. Krishna, she also appeared in Margazhi Raagam, the first ever movie based on a Carnatic concert. There were rave reviews from all quarters for the movie.

His performances have been acclaimed by both critics and rasikas in all major institutions, festivals, and sabhas in India. Bombay Jayashree performs regularly on Doordarshan and is an ‘A’ grade All India Radio artiste. Many of her cassettes and CDs have been released on major labels, including HMV, Sangeetha, and Inreco.
As a commerce graduate from Bombay University, Jayashree has a wide range of experience. The university awarded her numerous awards and titles in the fields of music, dance, and drama. In addition, she earned a Diploma in Music from the Gandharva Maha Vidyalaya.
Cinema
In addition to singing for Tamil films, Bombay Jayashree has worked with noted Chennai film composers such as A. R. Rahman and Harris Jayaraj. In 1997, the song “Narumugaiye” composed by A. Rahman dominated the charts, as did the song “Vaseegara” composed by Harris Jayaraj from the movie Minnale (2001).
Additionally, she appeared in the Carnatic concert film Margazhi Raagam in 2008.
